Thanksgiving this Thursday!!

I know that noone has seen this picture before. I decided to use this picture, mainly because I feel that the picture says a lot and it helps to actually wish every one a Happy Thanksgiving. Everyone has been real Thankful for the many things that they have. I know everybody has been Thankful for their family, husbands, wives, getting through the day and even more Thankful to be alive. But I think that the most that we should be Thankful for is having the support of our friends and what some don't have as of right now and we should definately be Thankful for this, is that, we have money coming into our households, that helps us to have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food in our stomachs. The reason why I say this, there are some who don't have that. Some out there are homeless, children who are in foster homes that don't have a family at all. So, we definately should be Thankful for what we do have. As the days will go by, I have been working on some writings of a few poems and I will post them on my blog, so everyone can read them. The Christmas season is coming up and I think that what I have been working on would be most approiate for the holidays. It will come up soon. How soon, can not say, but it will be soon.

In the meantime, this Thursday not only marks Thanksgiving day, it also marks another special day for someone in my family on my side. This Thursday is also my Mom's Birthday (Anita Marie Calkins.) I know sometimes I have a few tiffs with her, but she is a special Mom to me. I was going to go see her not only for Thanksgiving, but for her birthday just as well. But money finances had to stop us from going. I know she does not get the internet and can not access to have some read this blog for her, but I want my Mom to know that I love her very much and I am very Thankful that she is my Mom.

One more thing before I close for the week, I do hope that this message will carry on through Thanksgiving. I am very Thankful for all of my friends that I have, the one's who I have reconnected with and the one's who I stay in touch with more often than others. I try to get all of my friends and family and try to spout off messages, but if I don't, just know that I am always thinking of you and I appreciate the fact that you are my friends. I love all of you with all my heart.

To all of my friends and family; Have a wonderful, safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Love always,

Sara Marie McMurdie

Holiday projects day 3

Here is story that is something to be Thankful for and this true. I thought I should share this story with you. On Thursday (11/4/10) around between 7:00 am-8:00 am my husband Frank was on his way home from work. He was driving just fine on Legacy Highway and part of I-15. Well, on I-15 around the Kaysville exit, Frank started having problems with the car. We have two cars and the one that he was having problems with was the 2003 Chevy Cavalier. Anyways, what was happening with the car it was starting to slow down and than finally just stopped all together. As Frank started getting a hold of family for help, he was stuck on I-15 for a while trying to get the car restarted, no go at all. Frank called me first, after I spoke with Frank, I started calling my insurance to see if a tow was covered. It was coverd, but we had to pay first and than later get reimbursed back for the tow. Well, Frank called his mom and naturally Mom McMurdie called a tow through her auto insurance and because of it, there was no cost for the tow truck. The Cavalier was taken to one of the mechanic shops to find out what the problem was. We found out that the fuel pump went out. Because of the cost of the fuel pump and labor, Frank and I do not have the money to pay for it. As you can see where this is going. Mom and Dad McMurdie is helping us out and paying for the cost of the fuel pump and labor. Naturally, not all at once we are going to be paying his parents back for this help, mostly in payments each month.

So, as a result, I am very Thankful for Mom and Dad McMurdie coming to our rescue again and helping us out when it is needed. Their are times that we don't see eye to eye, but I am very Thankful that they are around when we really need them. Mom and Dad McMurdie thank you for the help, Frank and I do appreaciate very much.

Love,
Sara M. M.

Holiday projects day 2

Day 2 and here is another thing that I am thankful for: In spite of problems that is going on in this world; I am very Thankful for this world/USA that we live in, because it is a free country and we can with-in reason do what we want.

Now here is a bit of history to a question that is usually or always asked around Thanksgiving. I know I had always asked this question when I was a child. So, here is the question and answer and reference.

Why do we eat turkey for Thanksgiving?

Although juicy and tender butterball turkeys are the main cuisine of today's Thanksgiving celebrations, these birds were NOT the most popular centerpieces on the first Thanksgiving tables.

In 1621 when the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians celebrated the first Thanksgiving, they were gobbling up many more foods than just turkey. Since lobster, goose, duck, seal, eel, and cod were plentiful during this time, these foods were most likely the main courses of this first feast. Deer meat and wild fowl are the only two items that historians know for sure were menu of this autumn celebration.

So how did the turkey become the main mascot of modern-day Thanksgiving if we don't know for certain that turkeys were at this first feast?

One story tells of how Queen Elizabeth of 16th century England was chowing down on roast goose during a harvest festival. When news was delivered to her that the Spanish Armada had sunk on it way to attack her beloved England, the queen was so pleased that she order a second goose to celebrate the great news. Thus, the goose became the favorite bird at harvest time in England. When the Pilgrims arrived in America from England, roasted turkey replaced roasted goose as the main cuisine because wild turkeys were more abundant and easier to find than geese.

Hope this clears things up on why we eat Turkey on Thanksgiving day.

Holiday projects

It's that time of the year again. To where Thanksgiving and Christmas is aproaching soon and we always get caught up in our own little worlds and forget about our friends and sometimes our family. Last year I started a project on my blog, pertaining to Thanksgiving and Christmas. For Thanksgiving it was to find things that you are Thankful for. For Christmas finding Christmas memories that you did as a child and sharing them with everyone. This year I will ask the same thing. Here are the rules to this project; except I will change it up a little bit. Each day I will do some posting myself; prior to those who would like to participate in my project. For Thanksgiving: Up until Thanksgiving day; everyday post back on Facebook or if you make a comment back on my blog, mention each day what you are Thankful for and than after that write a part of the Thanksgiving history down. The history part does not have to be long; just a sentence or two. I will start first to get this started and hopefully everyone will join in. If you cannot make a comment back on my blog, post it on my wall on Facebook. (Instructions for Christmas will be after Thanksgiving).

The first of what I am Thankful for: After 13 years of being married to my wonderful husband (Frank McMurdie); I am thankful to still be married to Frank.

"The First Thanksging at Plymouth" After their first harvest, the Colonists of Plymouth held a celebration of food and feasting in the fall of 1621. Indian Chiefs Massassoit, Squanto and Samoset joined in the celebration with ninety of their men in the three-day event. This is said to be the first North American day of Thanksgiving. On October 3, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation calling for the obervance of the fourth Tuesday as a national holiday. http://wiki.answers.com.

P.S. for the history part; you can cheat by using books; google search; and internet sites. Just be sure to put a reference at the end, so the rest of us wants to go to that reference we can do so.

Some things just doesn't go right!!

Hey everyone, ever had a day to where nothing is going to go the right way or some things just doesn't go right? Don't you wish that anything you are doing would go right? For me and I am not saying that I am the only one who has problems, but for me today nothing is going right. I feel like I cannot get myself started for day. I sometimes whish I had help with any of my projects or even housework today. (LoL...any takers.) There are also times that I sometimes wish I could receive answers from people who I invite to certain events and also wishing I had tickets to go to certain events. There is one event that is happening this weekend and I wish I had tickets to go to this event. The event is divided up into two days four sessions and I wish that I had tickets to one of the sessions, but that never happened. I even sometimes wish that any of my friends that are close, here in the state of Utah, would come over and see me, just to check up on me, to see how I am doing, but again that never happens. I don't want family to check up on me, I want my friends to check up on me. Maybe, I am just complaining, because I do feel like that some things are not going the right way. Well, this blog is going out to those who is having things going on and is not going right, not just for today, but everyday. Good luck everyone with anything you are doing!!

Love always,
Sara M. M.

First Day of Autumn

Today is Thursday, September 23rd, 2010, First Day of Autumn. It does not feel like Autumn yet, but I am ready for it and also looking forward to winter. I don't have too many Autumn pictures, but being that October and November is coming up, I can put Holloween and Thanksgiving pictures on my postings of blog and notes. Looking more forward to December, because than I can do pictures of snow and Christmas. I remember someone had liked some Thomas Kinkade pictures, I look forward to putting those on just as well. Would you actually believe that it is not October and November yet and Holloween and Thanksgiving is coming out in the stores. I am even seeing a touch of Christmas coming out. I guess the stores need to get the bigger items out, that way if one needs to put items on Lay-away for Christmas they can.
Well, everyone enjoy your First day of Autumn and looking forward to writing more as the days are yet to come.
Love,
Sara M. M.

Slowing down a bit!!

It's hard to believe that this Thursday, August 23, 2010 is going to be the first day of Autumn. Of course today I am having a hard time typing. I have learned that why I post things on my blog it will also post on my facebook just as well under my tab that is labeled notes. Being that it is hard to believe that Autumn is going to be here, it means that soon we are going to creep up on Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years getting ready to enter into 2011. WoW!! Time flies by really fast. Everyone is busy with school, older adults who are going to college or a university is busy, more so, when midterms are coming up and finals that will soon arrive in December. Not to scare anyone. A friend of mine said that one of his classes, he has to depend on taking a final test for a grade. I wish him good luck. I know that parents are going to be extremely busy with their children and school. Good luck parents and hopefully you won't be too stressed out. As a matter of fact I hope nobody gets too stressed out and over whelmed. I know a few friends that are close by and if they get stressed out they are more than welcome to come over to my place and escape for the weekend. I have a pull out bed couch that they can sleep on, plus a floor if needed. And if they are not allergic to cats, they will need to put up with my cat Lucky.

Now, that I wished everyone good luck with the rest of this year, it is my turn to talk about me for a while. I have been very emotionally and physically tired. I don't want it to be this way. I do my best to go to church to spiritually get myself motivated for the week and I try to take it easy when I am hurting. If I sound like a whimp, well than maybe I am, but you try going through surgery (happen in 2008) having your gall bladder removed and 20% of your pancreaus removed. Also, try having pancreatitus and type 2 diabetes. I do my best to take my medications and go see my doctor, but when money is tight it is a little harder on me. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I am the only one who has problems, I am sure there are others who have problems with certain other types of diseases, including cancer. But with me, I feel very tired. I have been trying to find someone who can come and help me out once or twice a week and it needs to be someone that I can afford. I can't afford to hire a nurse or a housekeeper, it will cost a little bit too much. The way I can afford is to reimburse for gas and feed the person meals. My husband does his best to help out, but with him working overtime and graveyards he only has so much time in the mornings and than he needs his sleep. But, I do appreciate his help so much when he can provide it.

Another reason for this entry is that I have a lot of projects I need to catch up on. One of them I am doing right now. I would like to write in my blog about every other day and try to post something very exciting and interesting so everyone can try and laugh or make a comment back. I also have other projects that needs to get done before Christmas, some take a little bit longer than what I had planned on and it would be nice to get them done. Than there is my housecleaning, because I don't have the extra help I would need to take time to keep up with my housecleaning. I am not deleting any of my accounts from facebook and from my blog. I am going to slow down and take it easy on facebook. I will be on facebook in the morning from the time I wake up and turn my computer on for at least about one hour to an 1 1/2 hours at the most. Long enough to check any messages and in Alpha order to send out private messages to all of my friends. Than during the day, I will be off of it to work on my projects and housecleaning and than later in the evening I will be back on facebook to send out private messages to my friends. I will try to do one or two friends maybe three a day, to let them know that I have not forgotton about them. Again, I am not deleting my facebook account, just taking it down, limiting myself because of projects that need to get done. As far as my Facebook games, I will still play those, but mostly one in the morning and more in the evening.

I love everyone who are my friends and love to keep in touch with all the time. Six friends in particular, plus my family. Well, I know this blog is a bit long, but had to get out what I needed to say. I might have missed something, but if I did miss something it was probably not important. Thanks for reading this.

Love your friend,

Sara M. M.
